Hi everyone,
History of Roughleys Bike Show
Roughleys Bike show was actually born in 1999. Andy Roughley was working at The Bulls Head in Stockport Market and had to work the August Bank holiday. To amuse himself while working he asked some of his mates to come down and meet up. For their entertainment they asked some of the market buskers to play some tunes for them which went down a storm. They decided to do this again the next year but to involve some bikes on show this time. The first bike show was actually called The Bulls Head Bike Show! This was so popular they did it year after year with the bike show getting bigger and bigger until it has reached the standards we have today! The three charities we support have remained the same as they are causes close to our hearts. In the years following Roughleys Show has extended to include Toy runs and Egg runs which prove very popular with hundreds of gifts and eggs being donated and hundreds of bikers dressing up and joining in the fun as all our pictures show. There have been a couple of extra events in the last couple of years – we had a Bike Show Part 2 in Oct 2009 in aid of local boy Harley Slack which went down a storm and in March 2010 some of the Committee did a sponsored abseil to raise funds for Rainbow Trust. We hope the bike Show will continue to grow and keep entertaining everyone for a long time in the future.
